Towards a citizens' forum in Fall 2008 Upcoming meetings

It was submitted at the meeting of April 28, 2008, a proposal so that citizens and stakeholders in the district are given appointments in the fall to begin a process of developing sustainable.

Following the public meeting on the changes affecting the sector east of Maguire Boulevard St-Laurent, held last April 9, attended by hundreds of citizens. Citizens felt that these changes come into the neighborhood are now their escape and want to influence those changes so that the revitalization of this area is more like citizens.

The proposed forum is intended as a first step so that citizens and stakeholders in the district can develop a common vision of development that puts the citizen at the heart of it from a perspective of sustainable development, c ' is to say that in addition to questioning the type of economic activity than we would like to see appear, we think the quality of life of residents, parks, travel in the neighborhood, safety, community and commercial services to installing, and the whole place of arts and culture.

Challenges ahead for organizing such a forum, an organizing committee is currently set up, sub are fetching. Adequate preparation for content, etc. ... But we are aware that such activity will only be the beginning of a discussion to refine and deepen over the months and years to come. As

workshops touching the major concerns of citizens and pillars of sustainable development will be the focus of this forum, we agreed to a proposal already working on these axes. Therefore

committees are currently open so that people who feel interpelées by one or other of these areas already fall in order to advance the content, or by special knowledge or project proposals.

For those wishing to join one or other of these committees, please send us an email and we'll put you in contact with the preparatory committees of the Forum.

The following areas (committees)

Economy: Business Services to develop (what vision?) New businesses (multimedia? Large or small business? Want to support small businesses artists, craftsmen? social economy enterprises?)

Environment: more green space (how?) more green? Recycling composting, energy conservation, waste of water??

Social Community: networking neighbors, development of community services, CPE, etc. ...

Displacement: transportation, traffic, security, lighting, space for pedestrians, bike paths, etc. ...

Art and Culture: A network of artists, artisans, cultural support, venues, places of creation, provide for increased costs of workshops and lofts in the next years in the industry, etc. ... And all the wealth, how to protect it?

If either of these 5 main areas you are interested please let us know and include a working committee for the great event of the fall ...

Although changes in the sector Maguire led to this proposal, it goes without saying that such appointment is laying the groundwork for long-term vision of development for the whole neighborhood ...
